Warm Neighbor’s Eat for Heat Meal Kits for Two are back for year number TEN! Support local families while enjoying a delicious meal featuring products from some of Cowlitz County’s favorite restaurants, breweries, wineries, and farms. We are ramping up our menu this year and partnering with many local vendors to bring you a 100% locally procured meal kit that will include, chicken, steak, side, salad, dessert and more. Stop by one of our pick-up locations in Longview, Woodland or Castle Rock on September 10th and receive a locally curated meal kit for two that includes your choice of beverage. Every Eat for Heat meal kit purchased helps raise funds for Cowlitz PUD’s Warm Neighbor Fund, which provides temporary assistance to local households struggling with electric bills. This is the Warm Neighbor’s largest annual fundraiser, which supports our community’s most vulnerable. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Warm Neighbor Fund and are dispersed in Cowlitz County.
What is the Warm Neighbor Fund?
For over 25 years, Cowlitz PUD’s Warm Neighbor Fund has provided thousands of dollars to Cowlitz County families in need to help pay their electric bills. These recipients can barely make ends meet but don’t qualify for other government programs. This program is funded entirely by community donations, events, and Cowlitz PUD employees.
What is Eat for Heat?
Eat for Heat is a 100% locally procured meal kit that participants simply pick up and prepare at home. Recognized nationally, a fundraiser cannot get more local than Warm Neighbor’s Eat for Heat. Eat for Heat began in 2017, has served over 1,800 meals, raised $80,000 for the Warm Neighbor Program, contributed $70,000 to local restaurants, breweries, wineries, and farms, and created a partnership with Cowlitz County United Way’s Day of Caring to assist in organizing the event.
