Longview Downtowners’ Holiday Parade
Saturday, December 2nd, 2023
To celebrate Longview’s 100th birthday, this year’s theme is Centennial.
Cowlitz PUD’s Connect to Community Committee is excited to announce that we will be organizing the Longview Downtowners’ Holiday Parade and Ceremonial Civic Circle Lighting. We take pride in our community and are happy to be involved with such a long-standing tradition. We are thankful to be partnering with the Longview Downtowners to ensure that this event runs smoothly.
Thank you for your registration. The parade will be held Saturday, December 2nd at 5 pm with the float line-up beginning at 3:45pm. This is the 42nd year we’ve had a twilight parade.
There is no charge to enter the Christmas parade, but the Longview Downtowners would appreciate any contribution to help expand the decorations from downtown Longview to the Civic Center.
The parade route will be from the Cowlitz PUD at Commerce and Fir down Commerce to Maple, left on Maple, left on 14th and right on Broadway to the Civic Center and right at the Civic Center in front of the library to the Monticello Hotel for the annual Kelso Longview Chamber of Commerce Tree Lighting—approx. 1 mile. The parade will disband at Larch.
**Ensuring the Children’s safety is our top priority, so we ask that you designate volunteers to walk along your float and hand out candy rather than throwing candy from your float. This helps make sure that children are not running into the street to get candy or any other items you may be handing out**
**All motorized vehicles can NOT be left on idle during the line-up. Once in your location, you are asked to please turn your engine off**
**Parents must pick up their children at the back of the Hotel or LCC parking lot; they are not allowed to ride in the floats back to the lineup area**
**All floats must have a fire extinguisher on board**
** St. Nicholas himself will be participating in the parade again this year. We ask that there be no impersonators so the children will not be confused. Thanks for your cooperation**
**ALL animal entries must provide their own clean-up**
The week of the Parade a map will be sent to you that will include the lineup area along with a lineup number, a final schedule, and any additional details.
On the day of the parade, please send one representative to pick up your entry number at the corner of Commerce & Fir.
Please have all of your participants at the line-up by 4:45 pm as the parade will begin promptly at 5:00 pm
Plaques will be awarded so we look forward to seeing how creative your floats and participation can be! The following categories will be awarded by our panel of judges: (winners will be notified during the Civic Circle Lighting)
- Best in Show
- Community Spirit Award
- Athletic Entertainment (dance, drill, band)
- Santa’s Pick
- Best Retail
- Best Use of Lights
